Craig Wyvill Retires
Craig Wyvill retired on April 1 after 30 years of service with the Georgia Tech Research Institute (GTRI). While at GTRI, he served as a principal research engineer and chief of the Food Processing Technology Divison (FPTD). During his tenure as chief of FPTD, he also served as director of the Agricultural Technology Research Program (ATRP). Working in collaboration with the Georgia Poultry Federation, industry stakeholders, and the Georgia Legislature, he spearheaded the phenomenal success and growth of the program, which has been ranked as one of the Top 10 programs in the United States serving the meat and poultry industry. He also served as the lead university coordinator for Georgia FoodPAC, a public/private partnership between the State of Georgia and the food processing industry. Wyvill also spearheaded the planning and fund-raising campaign that led to the construction of the Food Processing Technology Building on the Georgia Tech campus. At the time of its dedication on May 19, 2005, it was the first GTRI building constructed in more than 20 years. The building serves as headquarters for FPTD and is acclaimed as a world-class center for collaborative food processing technology development, academic research, and public interaction.A retirement celebration was held in his honor at the Food Processing Technology Building on March 30, where he received a gold watch from FPTD and a special commendation from the Georgia Poultry Federation, which applauded his exceptional leadership as FPTD division chief and his remarkable achievements in service to the poultry industry in Georgia and the nation and for serving as special advisor to the Georgia Poultry Federation. |
